The 13th Annual Hockey 7′s round robin competition has been run once again and has once again been a roaring success. This competition has become the traditional start of the Club’s junior recruitment program feeding in to the Junior Summer “Come & Try” hockey program running over the next 3 Wednesday’s with kids then being invited to take part in the Junior summer program.
The competition this year involved 9 local schools playing each other once in a round robin competition which is run with a little twist! The winner of the actual shield donated by FHC is the school with the highest aggregate score in the Boys and Girls competition. A small pennant is given to the school winning the boys and girls competition. Schools taking part this year were Annunciation, Wembley, Spotswood, Yarraville West, Newport Lakes, St Margaret Mary’s, Sacred Heart, Footscray City and St Augustine’s. The school with the “bye” was treated to a twenty minute hockey clinic run by our very own Junior Administrator Brendan Sheehan.

Thanks
Thanks must go to all the volunteers on the day…Rayleen, Alun and Tayla Williams, Mark Wiseman, Anne Robinson, Marianne Fridell, Julie, Morgan and Gregory Stephens, Patrick McLaughlin, Marianne Pearce, Karen Veitch, Steve Pattie, Brendan Sheehan & Mark White. An all day guest appearance by FHC stalwart and club chairman Neil Coster was most appreciated. Heather Shaw popped in to say hi and give encouragement with Phylicia Veitch popping in during her lunch break to ensure that all was going well. Last but by all means not least, a special thanks to Lorraine (Lozza) Quinlan for being there all day coordinating initial ground watering and keeping all the kids full of sugar (the record was 50 sherbet bombs in one transaction)!!!
All in all a very successful day enjoyed not only by the children, but also the teachers, parents and the FHC volunteers, who I would once again like the thank for all their help on the day and a job “WELL DONE”!
Have a great summer and I hope to see you all around the traps more next year – Harry Zac
