Metro 1 North (8) def Kew (0) Goals N Virtuoso 2, M La 2, T Cordes 2, L Harris, N Bloomfield
The 1st placed Footscray side outclassed the bottom side Kew with a flurry of corner and field goals throughout the match. With a few players out – we thank the M2 girls who filled in for us. Tracy Cordes was sharp at the left post after pushing out on corners, managing to tap in 2 lovely re-bounds. Monica La single handedly ran from the half way line into the goals and beat the GK one on one on 2 occasions. Nicole Virtuoso roofed 2 undercut shots into the back of the net fro,m top of the circle in field play. Harry Bloomfield (hit from top) and Leona Harris (on the right post) scored in amazing style during field play. Thanks to Glenn for coming out and coaching us (after traveling to Albury for SL the day before). Next week – the toughest game of the season against 2nd spot Hawthorn. A win will see this team secure top spot and promotion after 6 years of trying!
Metro 1 South (5) def Casey (1) Goals M McCulloch 2, G Ramsey 2, L Schwartz,
The girls came out fighting and took posession of the game from the outset. The initial 10 minutes was tantalising with several close shots on goal, only to be repelled on the last line. Finally the tension was broken with a reverse stick shot at goal from Megan McCulloch (C). This was followed up quickly with another great team effort, converted by Georgie Ramsay. The third goal for the half was set up through some fantastic ball work by Ruth Torr , converted by Leah Schwartz, (having already played a full game and coming to the aid of a depleted line up!). The second half started as well as the first, again with Captains goal, followed up with another great effort from Georgia Ramsay. Throughout the game the defense was terrific, with solid performances from Lauran Dick, Steff Butters and Mel Corless. This was great a team effort – everyone should have been named! Welcome back Niamh ! The effort was even more significant as the girls put into play all the drills practiced at training. Well Done Girls !

Metro 3 South (5) def Dandenong (1) Goals Siobhan Blake 3, Susan Dobson 2
Needing a win to stay in the top four, the Metro 3 South girls headed all the way out to Dandenong. After a solid first half, 1-nil up was a pretty good result, although we were tired. However, the break seemed to be what we needed and 2 early second half goals put us in a winning position. Finishing strongly, the 5-1 end scoreline will now give us a great chance to stay in the four and play finals. Goals to Susan Dobson (2) and a hat-trick to Siobhan Blake were the result of excellent work across the field from everyone – a real team effort. Big thanks to the Metro 4 girls who filled in, and special mention to our brilliant goalie, Tayla Williams on her 250th game, and also her 15th birthday – We love you Tayla!
